Terrific guide for experienced writers

I picked up this book at a timely moment in my career--I'd been approached about a potential ghostwriting project and was wondering whether and how I could make it work with my existing freelance work.
Whether you're already exploring similar opportunities or just curious about new (and lucrative) outlets for your writing, you'll no doubt find a lot of value in "Goodbye Byline." James-Enger's straightforward, no-nonsense guide is like having a good friend in the biz letting you in on all the secrets. She starts with a thorough overview of the process, from finding clients to getting paid. Then, she walks you through real-life examples from her own and other top experts' experience--including both successes and missteps (always with an associated lesson, of course). She also includes samples of letters of introduction, contracts, and other correspondence.
Thanks to all of these resources, not only did I find the answers to my immediate questions about ghostwriting, I've also added to my library a key reference source that I know I'll return to time and again down the line. I'd highly recommend all freelance writers do the same.

I'm a freelance journalist who also dabbles in copywriting and content marketing, and I've recently been offered a job writing a family history. I've never ghostwritten a book length project before, so I set out to do some research about it and came across this book. I found it to be extremely thorough, honest and insightful. I feel like after reading it, I have the skills and knowledge that I need to get a book length project done, and although I'm still nervous, I am much more confident than before I laid hands on this book. In addition to explaining how to ghost book length projects, this book also discusses shorter pieces like articles and blogs. Recommended for writers looking to add ghostwriting to their repertoire.

Excellent resource for writers

This book is the perfect guide for any writing who is considering giving up their byline for the more lucrative (and growing) field of ghostwriting. The author covers not only books but the ever-growing field of ghosting for businesses who need help writing articles, blogs and white papers. She covers everything from how to market yourself and find the work to what to charge. There are also really helpful chapters on how to wade through online ads and how to write a contract.
The book is written in a friendly and engaging tone, making even the dry parts very readable. I can already tell that I'll be referring to this book continually as I work through the process.
